Watching Movie Trailers for ESL Comprehension

Select one of the movie trailers
(You need Quick Time)
Part 1: Listen and watch as often as you need too.
Take the short comprehension test.
Part 2: Write a short summary of what the trailer was about. (3-5) sentences
Part 3: Rewrite your content, using scripting. (For an example of scripting go to http://esl.about.com/od/speakingadvanced/a/sscripting.htm)
Divide your sentences into thought groups.
In each thought group, boldface the content words that you will stress.
Use capital letters for the words you want to really emphasize.

Part 4: You will practice reading your scripted content with a partner, and then present (speak it) it before the class.

2. Go to UTube.com to find the song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=95Qr5RAvv5Q&feature=related
3. Listen to the words to She, by Elvis Costello.
4. Fill in the missing words.

5. Practice singing this song along with the music (like you are singing Karaoke).
6. Then, write 4-5 sentences about this song and prepare to speak your sentences aloud.

7. Use script marks on your sentences. (you can choose another song or a movie trailer if you prefer)
1. Break each sentence into good thought groups. ///
2. Capitalize the most important words. CAP
3. Bold face the stressed words (verbs and adjectives. ) B
4. Put accent marks over the stressed syllable ‘
5. Make sure your long vowels last longer and are stronger.
6. Practice over and over any difficult consonants and consonant blends.
7. At the end of each sentence, glide down or up or jump up or down.
